What is Wadding? Soft fibrous material used to add bulk and insulation to quilted garments.
Wadding (or batting) is the soft fill material between the outer fabric and lining of a quilted or insulated garment. Modern wadding includes down, synthetic insulation (PrimaLoft, Thinsulate), wool, or recycled fibers. The wadding choice determines the warmth, weight, compressibility, and care of the garment.
