Hiking a long-distance trail from end to end in a single continuous trip.
What is Thru-Hiking? Hiking a long-distance trail from end to end in a single continuous trip.
Thru-hiking is hiking an entire long-distance trail (Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail) in one continuous trip, typically 4-6 months. Thru-hikers prioritize ultralight gear, fast-drying fabrics (no cotton), and modular layering. Many switched from heavy hiking boots to trail runners over the last decade.
